Principal's Report

Principal's Report:
Class of 2018
What a busy time of year it is, and will continue to be for a few weeks yet. The VCE exams have begun and will continue for a few weeks (the English exam on Wednesday was the first of the exams, and the last for MSC students will be early in the week beginning November 26) This will be closely followed by the Valedictory Ball which will take place on Thursday the 29th of November. This will be the final official school event for the class of 2018.
It has been a long journey in education for our graduating class which began 14 years ago for most of them when they entered kindergarten and they have persevered over those 14 years to reach their goal of completing Year 12. I would like to congratulate each and every one of them for achieving this milestone.
I would also like to congratulate the Year 12’s on their finish to the year. The assembly and morning tea with parents, the early morning barbecue and the student assembly were all events that showed the students in a fantastic light. They should be very proud of their efforts.
The Year 10 and 11 exams will commence shortly, followed by our Early Commencement program. It is an opportunity for students to get a head start on 2019.
Over the last week I attended two fabulous events involving our music students. Last Friday all of the BTA bands played at the Shepparton High School hall. It was inspiring to see the students of the BTA, and in particular, our MSC students shine. On Tuesday, a fashion parade at MEAC was organised by the music team. It was a fun night, and showed our students in a new light in a situation completely foreign to them. They all performed admirably on the catwalk, as well as in the Senior Jazz band. Well done to the music team, in particular Ms Tennant’s coordination of the whole event, as well as all of the students involved.
Our Year 7 Information Evening is on Monday December the 10th, followed by the state wide Orientation day on the 11th of December. Mrs Cornelius and Mr Townsend are working very hard on making sure both events are very successful. Along with Aileen Watson, they have been visiting the schools of all of our 2019 Year 7 cohort, and have also been arranging extra transition events for our prospective students.
Presentation Night is on the 18th of December at Westside Performing Arts Centre. I would encourage you to attend to help celebrate the achievements of our 2018 students.
Finally, Tuesday is Melbourne Cup day and is a public holiday, but Monday is a normal school day, and all students are expected to be in attendance.
