Principal's Report

Term 2

Welcome Back

A huge welcome back to term two. The students have had a fantastic start to the term and are following our values and schoolwide expectations. It is great to see the enthusiasm of students and staff and we look forward to the exciting learning experiences that are ahead of us this term.

As you will be aware most of the COVID-19 rules have now been lifted. Student attendance has improved now that students who are household contacts of a COVID-19 case are no longer required to quarantine. They can return to school as long as they undertake rapid antigen tests (RAT) 5 times within their 7-day period and wear face masks indoors if they are aged 8 and above unless they have a valid exemption.

If any household contact returns a positive RAT result during this period, they must isolate for 7 days and not attend school.

School Uniform

This is just a reminder as the weather becomes colder that only ‘school uniform’ items can be worn at school including the windcheaters for Primary students and the spray jackets, jumpers and rugby tops for Secondary students. No other items are to be worn at school.

Our section leaders will be sending you communication through Compass if your child is not wearing the correct uniform.

Please contact Mel in the office at Bundoora on 94673972 if you need to purchase any items.

NDIA DET Pathways to Post-School Life Parent Webinars

The National Disability Insurance Agency would like to invite Victorian students living with disability in Years 9 -12, their parents, carers and education professionals, to attend a virtual information session about building skills and paving a pathway to post-school life.

They’ll discuss a range of NDIS-funded supports and other assistance to help young people build skills to prepare for their transition, and support them in achieving employment and other goals, post-school. Information provided at this session will help you learn more about the supports for post school life.

This session will be delivered via video-conference using Microsoft Teams. Registrations will close three business days before the event. Two business days prior to the event, details to join the session will be sent from events@ndis.gov.au to the email address you provide at registration, so please ensure your registered email address is accurately captured to receive these details. For any enquiries regarding this session, please contact events@ndis.gov.au and include the session name in the subject line.

Smile Squad is Coming to Concord School

Smile Squad is the exciting new State Government program that will provide free, high quality dental care to all Victorian public primary and secondary school students.

Smile Squad dental vans will provide free examinations and treatment including teeth cleaning, fluoride applications, fillings and any other non-cosmetic treatments to make sure our young people have healthy teeth.

The Smile Squad vans are staffed by experienced oral health therapists, dental therapists, dental assistants and dentists who are trained in providing services to children who have additional support needs including intellectual disability.

Once you provide consent, the Smile Squad team will check your child’s teeth and mouth and show them how to keep their teeth healthy and strong. They will also provide any preventive services that have been consented for.
