Mission

Catholic Mission Fundraiser
Last Friday, our newly elected Year 12 (2019) Student leaders worked together to organise and run a cake stall in support of Mission month and raising awareness for children in Myanmar. Their baking efforts were outstanding and they enlisted the support of their peers across the year group. Well done Year 12, an excellent example of mission in action!
Staff Connections Retreat
In Week 2, two of our Staff members, Mrs Rebecca Saxon and Mrs Courtney Freebody had the experience of attending the ‘Connections - Come and See’ Retreat, designed for Teachers new to Catholic Education. The retreat took place nearby beautiful Lake Mulwala and our Teachers really enjoyed the opportunity to meet and build connections with other Staff around the Diocese.
St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal 2019
It’s that time of year again, when we turn our hearts and minds to Christmas and all the celebration and joy it brings to our families. As we move into the festive season, we call upon your support of the 2019 Christmas Appeal to support those families who are faced with difficult circumstances. Mater Dei supports the ongoing work of the Kooringal Conference of St Vincent de Paul in making Christmas Hampers for the less fortunate of our community. We will begin collecting donations next week, in Week 5, during Homegroup time each day.
Please consider making a Christmas themed donation to our appeal, reflecting on the types of food and drink you enjoy on Christmas day, and picking up something during your grocery shop.
Some suggestions of non-perishable Christmas donations are below;
Christmas Pudding or Cake
Tinned Ham
Gravy
Bon Bons
Tinned fruit
Custard
Cake mixes
Lollies or chocolates
You are also welcome to donate gifts for children, if doing so, there is no need to wrap these, and just place them in an open gift bag or plastic bag. All gift card donations are also gratefully received.
Thank you for supporting the MDCC Vinnies Christmas Appeal this year. I know your donations are so richly valued by their recipients!
Vinnies Retail Shops - School Holiday Volunteering Program
The St Vincent de Paul Society in Wagga are calling on student volunteers for the Christmas holiday period. All students, 16 and over are invited to give back to the community by serving at the Vinnies shops. To participate, students have parental permission, commit to offering at least three days of service, complete all paperwork prior to commencement and organise their own transport to and from the relevant store. Available store locations include Wagga Wagga,
Griffith and Albury. Can you help us, to help others?
This is an incredible opportunity which will enable students to extend their social consciousness and connections within the community, while boosting their resume and gaining new skills. The necessary paperwork will be available from the front office. Please note, this activity is not being run as a School Excursion, and is voluntary in nature. Further questions or concerns can be directed to Mrs Bridget Lutze. Thank you for your interest!
