The Level 6 students have been writing their own persuasive texts. Over the next few weeks, we will be including samples of their writing in the school newsletter. The writing is exceptional and the topics are pretty cool too. We hope you enjoy this one about family and friends.

Family or Friends?

The importance of family - written by Isobel and Sophia 6P

We think that family is more important than friends. This is because; your family will always be there for you, families are permanent and your family knows you better than any friend ever will.

To begin with, your family will always want to be there to look after you and protect you. For your whole life, they will stick by you and support you no matter what. They will always love you, even when you make mistakes and feel like they don't. That is why family is more important than friends.

Additionally, families are permanent. Friends will come and go, but families are forever. They were with you when you were born, they saw you take your first steps and they've stayed with you ever since. Friends will change as they grow up and their hobbies will change  too. When that happens, you won't have much in common and you may find you won't get along so well. Families will stay with you no matter your changes and differences in hobbies. That is the second reason why family is more important than friends.

Finally, your family knows you better than any friend ever will. You have lived with them your whole life and they know you best. You can always trust them, whereas with friends they have to be extremely close to you to be 100% trustworthy. Your family knows everything that you like and dislike and they can always tell when you don't feel well or aren't quite right. But a friend, sometimes doesn't notice and sometimes they may ignore how you feel. This is the final reason why families are more important than friends.

In conclusion, we think that family is more important than friends because your family will always be there for you. Families are permanent and they know you better than anyone, sometimes better than you know yourself!
