Kindergarten News

Marram:

The Marram class had a beautiful and settled week, calmly engaging in the opportunities that were provided and spending large periods of time connecting with their new friends and staff.

The children loved engaging in the play dough and using the Cars and construction on the mat inside.

Outdoors the children were busy in the trickle stream, swings, home corner and sand pit.

It's going to be another amazing week of learning in our Marram class, see you all Tuesday.

Budja:

What an incredible week we had with our Budja class!

The children have been so engaged and settled throughout the day and routines.

We have spent time in our morning group sessions singing songs, engaging with puppets and playing turn taking games, all of which foster concentration and negotiation skills, peer development and a sense of belonging.

There has been such a sense of curiosity and enthusiasm also, with the children adoring the new playground- driving the car, spending hours in the sandpit and creating games throughout the various spaces.

We created 'butterfly's', extending on our learning from a child's experience and then tying in concepts of colour through the exploration of primary and secondary colours. The children really enjoyed this process and were so proud of being able to take their butterfly home at the end of the session.

We can't wait for another great week!

Garwarn:

What a wonderful week we have had. The children have certainly been incredibly curious about their environment, enthusiastic to have a go and sharing some of their interests. There has been some wonderful demonstration of dinosaurs and roars, discussions about feathers, ice-cream making and other treats inspired from trips to the beach or café’.

The magnetic shapes have supported the children in observing some of the same and others throughout the environment. Sensory play spaces have enabled new discoveries, confidence in self and others to work together and making choices.

We have looked at Chinese New Year and the celebrations that occur and look forward to making some fire cracker painting this week. We will also be working on our Chinese numbers – we discussed with the children how old they are and what number they will be turning next. We have made some through art which allows for the children to develop eye-hand co-ordination, following instructions and concentration.

Have a super week!

Wimbi and Dharug:

Our first week and it was awesome! We have explored the sandpit, swings, trampoline, sensory experiences, puzzles, train tracks and a great variety of vehicles.  A big favourite being the big outdoors car, with some imaginative play and interests emerging. As they continue to engage in these experiences their interpersonal relations are still tentative and experimental, however they are very enthusiastic about being with new peers and we are seeing some rudimentary co-operative play and turn taking.

The children will be establishing predictable routines and transitions as they find a rhythm to their Kinder day whilst forging their sense of belonging.

We are looking forward to another fabulous week!

Kelly-Anne, Amelia and Nicole (Dharug group)
