Gym and Swim!

Flashback to Pre-Flood Times...

Many apologies that this newsletter hasn't been sent earlier. With all the terrible events of the past few weeks, it was overlooked. Perhaps now is a good time to remember some nice times at school. We all hope everyone is safe and dry and look forward to seeing the children back at school on Wednesday, 16th March.

Gymnastics and Volleyball

The students have been doing some high flying over the past fortnight with the help of North Coast Gymnastics! A couple of weeks ago they brought the trampoline and the children really enjoyed the experience. We will be doing gym each Friday afternoon and look forward to seeing the skills the children learn.

Volleyball has also started in recent weeks and we welcome our instructor Clair back into the school.

Swimming Carnival

A big thank you to all parents and friends who transported children to Lismore Pool for the Carnival. The carnival was blessed with good weather (a rare event these days!) and it was such a shame that parents were unable to attend because of the restrictions. Although we didn’t score any placings on the day, the children all tried their best and we are proud of them all for going and having a go or just supporting each other.

Help in the Office

While Gaye is on leave, you may hear a new voice on the phone when you call the school. Libby Coles is working on a casual basis (part time) to help with all things related to the office. She is navigating her way around the school setting after many years in other types of offices. We are very grateful to have Libby’s support and she is doing a wonderful and conscientious job already.

COVID Update

We all do our best to stay COVID safe, but it is just not realistic to expect that we can avoid it completely in a community setting such as a school. Some families of staff and students have been affected in the last couple of weeks. We wish them all a speedy recovery.

We will always notify the school community when we have an outbreak. We continue to follow all Education and Health Department guidelines and constantly remind children to wash their hands regularly.

Nits

Nits are an unfortunate hazard of every primary school. We have had reports of nits in the school. They can only be eradicated if we are all vigilant. Please look in your child’s hair and treat them if they have lice. Hair should be tied up when at school.
