School Council

The role of the School Council is to provide governance of the school’s operation; to provide the framework to manage its resources and structures, whereas the Principal determines the day-to-day operation of the school.
Our KPS School Council currently consists of 8 parent positions, 2 community positions, and 4 DET positions. Evening meetings are held 8 times a year, and all members are asked to contribute to at least one of the 3 sub-committees that meet prior to the school council meetings - Finance, F.A.C.E (Facilities and Community Engagement), and the Student Learning & Well-being sub-committee. Each sub-committee reviews relevant policies and discusses how to improve KPS within that group’s scope.
Below is an outline of what the subcommittees functions are –
Finance subcommittee monitors the school’s financial performance and oversees the financial responsibilities of the school council. These include developing the annual budget, providing school finance information, and making appropriate recommendations to the school council.
F.A.C.E (Facilities and Community Engagement) subcommittee covers 2 areas. Firstly, it overseas the maintenance of school facilities and the planning of future projects around the school. Secondly, the subcommittee looks at increasing community engagement within the school community as well as externally such as with Rotary.
Student Learning & Student Well-being sub-committee monitors the student learning by planning for parent information sessions, analysing data surrounding student learning and looking at ways in which student learning at Kingswood can be improved. It is also responsible for student well-being and looks into initiatives to improve student wellbeing at the school.
You do not need to be a school council member to attend subcommittee meetings. Joining a subcommittee is a great introduction to school council We welcome all parents who are interested to attend. Please contact the Principals for more details.
