Assistant Principal

Can you believe that we are almost at the end of February. We have continued our fabulous start to the year with ice cream days for our buddy benches, interschool sports, and of course our STOMP! Dance lessons.

School Dental Van

Unfortunately, we have received communication the Australian School Dental Van has had to reschedule their visit – at this stage, we do not have a new date, however, as soon as we receive that information we will forward it to you. They predict that it will be sometime in term 2 or term 3.

Child Safe Standards

All children have the right to be safe and protected, including at school. The child safe standards strengthen existing approaches to preventing and responding to child abuse and aim to create a culture where protecting children from abuse is part of everyday thinking and practice.

New Child Safe Standards are coming into effect from the 1st July 2022. There will be 11 new standards to replace the existing 7 standards.

Other key changes include new requirements:

  • to involve families and communities in organisations’ efforts to keep children and young people safe
  • for a greater focus on safety for Aboriginal children and young people
  • to manage the risk of child abuse in online environments
  • for greater clarity on the governance, systems and processes to keep children and young people safe.

To see the current policies that Kingswood Primary School has in regard to Child Safe Standards, please view our school website. Go to quick links tab and then important documents.

Student Support Group meetings

Student Support Group meetings are held for students who are dealing with a wide range of different issues such as anxiety, attendance, attention, health or social/emotional issues.

It has been a delight to connect with so many families during this past week about how we can support the additional needs that their child may have in the classroom or playground. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to celebrate successes, discuss classroom adjustments that support the student to get the best possible access to the curriculum and to set goals for the term.

Supervision Before and After school – Yard Duty

Kingswood Primary School’s grounds are supervised by school staff from 8:45am until 3:45pm. One staff member is allocated to the junior area and one to the senior area. Please ensure that your children are not left unsupervised before or after these times.
