Parents, Friends & Community

Dear Ormond Primary Community,

The P&F committee are finally catching their breath and enjoying their recently delivered mangoes but before we sign off for the year we have a few final messages.

Firstly I’d like to say a massive thank you to all the families who contributed cakes and home made goodies for the Election day Stall and the Lucky Jars. Despite the cool conditions, there was a steady stream of costumers throughout the morning.

On the day we raised almost $3,500 across the three stalls. What was most pleasing was the fun and interaction manning the stalls by the many volunteers who offered their time to carefully position onions for the sausages, sell freshly made scones and lucky jars. Thank you to everyone who contributed with donations, time or coming along on the day and purchasing. Especially if you took home your own cake!

Its been a rewarding year with many successful events organised by class reps across the year levels to create a sense of community for students, parents and the whole community including teachers and school leaders.

We held a special P&F meeting last Tuesday to thank the class representatives for making these events happen and for making sure everyone experiences a sense of inclusion and welcome via regular communication and a range of activities.

P& F have concluded their activities for 2018 but are already doing the ground work for a 2019 Welcome Event on February 15th. The Hawker’s Market will be a whole school dinner event on the school grounds with fun for all so please pop it in your diaries.

Finally, I would like to express my enormous gratitude to the P&F committee of 2018. They are a small but hard working group who are inspiring in their commitment to building a positive community for everyone who attends our school and getting their hands dirty making it happen.

In addition to the good times they have helped make happen this year we have raised almost $33,000 in funds to assist upgrades in technology, playground facilities and to support landscaping plans when next year’s renovation happens. Thank you to everyone who has volunteered, and to Ms McLeod, Ms Dell, Jan and Brodie who have provided oodles of assistance in the behind the scenes support. And lastly to Ms Park and April and the after care team for generously sharing their space and resources when we’ve asked them to make room.

Happy Holidays!
