Yin Yoga

A Yin yoga class usually consists of a series of long-held, passive floor poses that mainly work the lower part of the body - the hips, pelvis, inner thighs, lower spine. These areas are especially rich in connective tissues. The poses are held for up to five minutes, sometimes longer.

Yin is about finding stillness and cooling the body. When you commit to Yin and make time to sit, to just be still, you will notice what your mind and body has to say.

Research shows that as well as having a positive impact on the mind and reducing feelings of stress and anxiety, the practice increases circulation, improves flexibility, releases fascia and improves joint mobility, and balances our internal organs – improving the flow of chi or prana (energy) in the body.

Join us for the 2020 Autumn Book Binge!

It's easy to play – just pick up a game card from any participating library, then read or listen to a book of your choice from any of the nine book categories:

  • Set in Victoria
  • Recent releases
  • Other lives
  • In translation
  • Fact to fiction
  • Book to screen
  • Beastly titles
  • Other worlds
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander writers.

Fill in your game card to keep track of the books you read or listen to between 1 March and 31 May 2020.

Once you’ve completed a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal line on the game card, you can fill out the entry slips attached to the game card.

To be in the monthly draw, drop your entry into your local library branch by the end of each month. A Readings book voucher is up for grabs at each library service for one lucky reader for each month of the competition.

Join in the conversation and share your book reviews and recommendations on social media, using hashtag #AutumnBookBinge.
