Principal's Update
Achievement, Respect, Community. Our values can be seen everyday, in and out of the classroom.
The new school year has begun and the students are excited about moving into the next year level. We also welcome back Viv Collins (Tarasuik), Cristelle D’Offay, Jenny Bryce, Sheena Worthy and Pete Southam.
The week prior to Headstart was extremely busy. We farewelled Meredith Woods, Bryce Taylor, Paul Davis, Graeme Jensen, Olivia Seal and Claudia Profir.
The Year 10 students proudly received their certificates indicating they had successfully completed Year 10. Their Formal was held at the New Peninsula Centre on Craigie Road. A great time was had by all. The students came together and danced the night away. The staff at the venue were so impressed by our students. They were well behaved and very respectful.
BHP students also graduated and they all spoke confidently during their presentations.
Presentation Day was a highlight. Year 7’s dressed in character and spoke about Roman times, whilst the Year 8 students presented their Science projects and the Year 9’s spoke about a global issue. Presentation Day is always a fantastic day. Students prepare for this final day and are very keen to share how much they know about the subject they have researched. Presentations are always interesting and staff thoroughly enjoy the day.
This week also saw 20 students travel to Maryborough for the HPV Energy Breakthrough. Students are required to present to a panel of 3 judges. They are judged on their knowledge of the components of the vehicle and then they participate in a 24 hour endurance race. Well done to the 3 teams representing Mornington Secondary College.
The events of this week are on top of the normal daily structure of school life. These events do not happen without the support and commitment of staff. Thank you to all of my staff for providing opportunities for our students.
