Melbourne City FC & City Robots Program
On Tuesday, 5th February, the year 5 and 6 students had a very special visit from Melbourne City Football Club. Superstars Luke Brattan and newly signed Jamie McLaren made an appearance at our school to launch the City Robots program. Our students were the first in the country to build and play with the amazing robots which are controlled via an app.
The kids also enjoyed a game outside with the players that related to computer coding.
Due to this being an Australia wide launch, we had 8 people from various media platforms who were there to take photos and film the whole experience. The story made it to the Age newspaper as well as channel 10 news on Tuesday evening.
This is linked to our Science program. The year 5 and 6 students will be involved in further Science sessions with representatives from the Melbourne City FC. We were even gifted one of these robots to build from scratch and play with, before the program starts later in the year.
They will be doing the following:
1. City Robots – STEM, coding and building robots for 6 sessions over 6 weeks and
2. Healthy Hat Trick – healthy eating and lifestyles for 4 sessions
Our students and teachers alike had a lot of fun on the day.
