Principal's Message

Teresa Stone

Dear Parents and Guardians,

There is a lot to celebrate as a school community with the wonderful work that students are involved in and producing at the school.

We have just completed our year of review and are looking forward to sharing the strategic direction for our school in term 4.  Our student leaders impressed all the reviewers in their ability to articulate a vision for the future.

However we are also seeing our kids  and families are experiencing quite a number of social issues   While it is unpleasant for all involved we are working on developing these skills with our students.   You may have heard the students excitement of working with Mike Spears playing basketball and learning about leadership and sportsmanship. Or the students who are involved in our Circus program, building confidence and persistence.

Most issues are starting outside of school and online.

I am also seeing a disturbing trend from parents at the moment. That is, parents approaching other people's children to "tell them to behave."  Imagine what that would feel like to a child being approached by an adult they don't know?  Imagine how you might feel if your child was told off by another adult?

Under no circumstances is any parent to approach another child in regard to any issue.

If there is a concern, please see your child's teacher or one of the leaders.  We have to work together to support our children to learn to share, to be respectful and to manage their emotions in an effective way.  On our Community page "Partner to Learn", I have put in some resources about bullying and cyber bullying.  It gives ideas and strategies of what you can do to support and teach your child as a parent and what we are doing as a school.

Kind regards Teresa
