Added to these awards, Media Teacher Miss Katie Gunning was awarded the Champion Teacher Award, recognising her dedication to her students as well as her support to them to create brilliant work as evidenced by the number of finalists in this year’s competition. Congratulations to Miss Gunning and students Henry, Colin, Max, Tom and Edward for their wonderful achievements. Photos from the awards night are located in the Arts News section.

Radio Active Concert

Our Years Eleven and Twelve VET music students, along with members of WAAPA, performed to a sell-out crowd at the AEC on Friday night. With the dual talents of Ivy Moir singing and playing ACDC’s Highway to Hell, to an original Let it Fly by Matthew Walmsley, the variety of songs and performances was a highlight of the evening. Congratulations to all students involved and VET music teacher Mr Joe Fowler, as well as Director of Music Ms Emma Luxton.

Albany’s Big Sleep Out

The Albany’s Big Sleep Out, which works towards ending homelessness, was held on Saturday 27 August at the Albany Agricultural Society pavilion. We had a number of students who slept out including students from the Junior School. As part of the evening, a Year Eleven and Twelve band entertained the audience. Congratulations to parent Mrs Stacey Murnane, for the coordination of this worthwhile event.

2023 Forward Planning

Great Southern Grammar is working towards finalising forward planning for 2023. Effective forward planning is aided if we have a well-founded indication, by the end of Term Three, of day students entering the school in 2023, and those who may be considering leaving.

It is therefore timely to remind families now that, where a day student withdrawal is anticipated, notice is required.

For day students, the Fee Schedule states that: One full term’s notice must be provided in writing to the Principal before withdrawal, including students leaving at the end of the year. In default of that notice, one half term’s tuition fee is payable.

I therefore encourage families to please start a conversation with me or the Registrar, Mrs Julia Bairstow, as soon as possible if you anticipate a change in your circumstances affecting your child/ren's enrolment at GSG. Thank you for your partnership in supporting the school’s forward planning process. It is very much appreciated.

A reminder also to submit an Application for Admission form as soon as possible if you are looking to enrol a younger sibling in 2023. This can now be done online via https://enrol.gsg.wa.edu.au/application-for-admission/start. For further information please contact Community Relations Manager, Mrs Julia Bairstow, via julia.bairstow@gsg.wa.edu.au
