Business Innovation Excursion to Adelaide Hills Businesses

All Stage 1 Business Innovation students recently had the opportunity to visit various Adelaide Hills businesses.  This full-day excursion enabled students to investigate how these businesses operate and adapt to a changing economy.

The day started with a visit to the iconic Melba’s Chocolate factory where students spoke to staff, completed various observation tasks and purchased a lot of chocolate! The next stop, Beerenberg Strawberry Farm, was an opportunity to see first-hand the newly innovated shop and café.  An employee gave an engaging talk about the Beerenberg family history and the ways in which the company continually innovates.  Students were each given a selection of products to trial.

Hahndorf main street was the final destination where a range of data collection exercises were carried out. This included a land use survey and interviews with both business owners and shoppers. Students are currently using the data collected on this excursion to complete a Business Model of one of the businesses visited.  They will then be challenged to create a product or service which will add value to one of the businesses visited.
