8.45 am : Assembly Official launch of National Literacy and Numeracy Week Staff to read a favourite picture story book to another year level. (each and every day!) | Spelling Bee:
9:00am Junior years
2:20 pm Senior years
Digital literacy Whole school coding activities in classes.
1.30pm: Read for Australia. All classes to gather for a shared reading of the CBCA picture story book winner: | Book character parade: 9am
Dress up as your favourite book character- whole school parade : Parents welcome! Students write about their costume and reason for choosing it.
Buddy Reading: Preps and Year 5s; buddy reading
FAMILY Maths night 6.30PM All are welcome! | Don’t Judge a Book by its cover!
(Book Swap) Students bring a second- hand wrapped book to swap with another student. What will you get? Multi - modal text Students to create a book / comic/magazine to share with class. ...Or another class? Eg: Book Creator? | AFL Dress up Day
Students dress in AFL colours.
8.45am- Whole School Footy Parade on the Basketball Court. Parents and families welcome.
9.15 Netball game: Students vs Staff.
AFL Maths activities all day in classrooms.
12.30pm: End of school assembly with inquiry learning sharing Holidays…..!!! |
Book Character Parade
As a part of Literacy and Numeracy week at St John’s, on Wednesday all students (and staff!) are encouraged to dress up as a favourite character from a much loved book. We will show off our costumes in our Book Character Parade.
Wednesday 14 September
at 9am in the Mary Mackillop space.
Parents and friends are welcome to attend!
Don’t Judge a Book by it’s cover!!!!
Book Swap at St John’s
On Thursday, 15 September, students are asked to bring in a ‘second hand’ or ‘used’ book that they no longer require and join in our St John’s Book Swap. We ask that your child’s book is wrapped...no need to be fancy paper...newspaper is fine! Students will then choose a random wrapped book from a selection to take home and keep! Please encourage your child to choose a book to donate that is in good condition and would be enjoyed by another student of a similar age.
The Great St John’s Spelling Bee
On Tuesday, 13 September, we will be hosting
The Great St John’s Spelling Bee
for all students who wish to participate.
Junior Spelling Bee: 9am in the Mary Mackillop Space.
Senior Spelling Bee: 2.20pm in the Mary Mackillop Space.
Parents and friends are welcome to attend.
