VAPS PIPS Scienceworks Reflection

8 September - Scienceworks Museum - Years 5 - 8

Scienceworks is one of our newer additional to the PIPS suite of events, with this being only the third time we've run a PIPS event at Scienceworks. This year we were able to access the new Illuminate exhibit focussed on light, sound, and perception, exploring philosophical ideas such as Plato's Cave through the Shadow Stage, the nature of identity through the Reflection Stage Stage and Unseenery, and how our perception influences our conception of the world around us. Students interacted with exhibitis and funnelled their interactions into community of inquiry dialogues.

A teacher testimonal from the day is included below:

"There were many goosebumps moments for me listening to the thoughts of our students in these group discussions. For example, hearing Max discuss “using the moral compass in order to decide what is right and wrong” and then listening to him reference the Trolley Problem. Mathen asking the question about “where does respect fit in our Future Cities?”. Vabeihu talking about the idea of “the more intelligence and technology people get, the less they seem to care about people”. "
