ISO Challenge

Last week we began our 8 Week ISO challenge. Each House has a week during which they lay down a challenge to the rest of the campus - staff and students alike. The idea behind this 8 Week ISO challenge is to give the students and staff a ‘campus based’ focus or talking point that is outside of the daily grind of webinars and textbooks. The challenge for Week 1 was to “Step it out” and was conceived by the Glowrey student Captains; Indyanna De Vries and Jathusan Ramachanthran. “Step it out” had the community don the walking shoes and lock in the pedometer apps, to count their daily steps. At the end of the week, staff ‘out stepped’ students in terms of average steps per person with noticeable results from Mr Cooper, Mr Parton, Ms McArdle and Ms Preston, however the sheer number of steps from students was exceptionally high led by our sport captains Matt Phillips and Tayla Cunnington. Glowrey House students were the most prolific walkers, and two tutor groups shared the title of Week 1 ISO challenge champions, being Marian C (Ms Bolch) and Glowrey C (Ms Marschner). Amongst a host of really good performances came some notable efforts even when the  wintry blast came through on Wednesday. Chloe Strachan, Joshua Paletemps, Hazel Fosio, John Ladislao, Devmika Bogahapitiya Lekamalage, Ambika Dinesh, Connor Shiel, Emma Mouser and Gurvisha Singh.

Week 2 of the ISO Challenge has been laid down by our Augustine House Captains, Deandra D'Penha and Matthew Korani, who have challenged us all to share a video of our best ‘trick shot’ from home - already some great examples have been entered and we look forward to more entries before the Friday afternoon deadline.

WORDS FROM REMOTE LEARNING

“Our current situation of being stuck at home and having to carry out our studies through online schooling has been very unpredictable. For the most part,  it has been relaxing doing my work from home, it allows me to take control over my own education and enables others to work in a calm and comfortable location that has fewer distractions. With the necessary resources provided from home it’s been easy to adapt to the changes that have come with isolation. So far, since the school implemented zoom, it had a few issues at the start but now it has become an easy way to reach our teachers and still carry out our studies.”

- Tristan Year 12.

This week we have video messages from our College Captains Brendon and Talia, I invite you to listen to their encouragement at this time.
