Primary News

From the Desk of Cameron Lock

I hope your week has been uplifting and productive. I'm sure the most memorable event that has occurred for the Year 3 & 4 class this last fortnight was their Year 3/4 Camp! The camp was held at Mylor and I must say the activities and catering were absolutely brilliant.  Head on over to the next page of the newsletter for photos and a video of all the exciting things they got up to! Here's a summary of their time away from Ester & Seb.

On Monday 3 September, the Reception to Year 7 teachers went to AISSA (Association of Independent Schools South Australia) and took part in a series of 3 professional development opportunities designed around learning design. The first session centred around teachers creating assessment tasks that were specific and directed. We discussed how we can enable and extend students with their learning using goal specific outcomes and teaching within students' zone of proximal development. Time was spent discussing the importance of teaching the 'whole child'. In unpacking this, we discussed how important a growth mind-set is when learning and also building resiliency when faced with tasks. It was a fantastic time and we are all looking forward to our 2 remaining sessions.

Just a reminder that selected girls and boys from Years 4/5 and 6/7 will compete in the SACSA Soccer carnival on Tuesday (Yr 4/5 on 18/9) and Wednesday (Yr 6/7 on 19/9). They have been training hard during lunch times. I would like to thank parents for helping to coach and being available on the day to assist, it is really encouraging to see.

Quiz Night was a fantastic success. I would like to thank Clint Giggins, Phil Jones, Scott Sands, Anne Bryant and Lynette Colebatch for organising the event.

A special mention needs to go to the local Strathalbyn businesses for donating items for our auction. Please support these local businesses:

The Canberra Trip is occurring in Week 10 for a number of Year 6 and 7 students. This will be an exciting time to discover the nation's capital.

A reminder that Parent/Teacher interviews are available to be booked. Please arrange a time to speak with your child's class teacher.

Please continue to read the newsletter for dates and events.

Royal Adelaide Show 2018

Daniel and Nathan Wright were busy at the Royal Adelaide Show helping their Auntie on the first three days. They were there showing Border Leicester and Romney Sheep at the show.

The Border Leicester’s were the feature breed at the Royal show this year. They won a few ribbons in different classes. Their Auntie owns a sheep stud in Macclesfield called Pebblestone Stud. They do lots of different shows throughout the year with their Auntie.

Well done boys!
