A few highlights
Anti-Poverty Week
At last Wednesday’s secondary assembly Mrs Kluge presented two deeply moving clips highlighting the pain and pressure on unemployed people to meet their basic needs of sustenance and dignity.
It was a powerful message to promote awareness and a heart for supporting our Anti-Poverty drive this week. Students and families are invited to donate non-perishable food and toiletries to the cause.
AISSA workshop
On Monday 3 September (Pupil Fee Day) our Primary teachers participated in an outstanding professional development program at the offices of the Association of Independent Schools of SA (AISSA) in the city. This was the first of a series of Australian Curriculum moderation sessions designed to reinforce and extend the excellent programs that operate in our School. We are extremely grateful for the opportunity, supported by our Director of Learning, Mrs Meredith Lockery, and the experienced academic presenters at AISSA.
Mayors Short Story Competition
On Thursday evening last week at the Yankalilla Council Offices we were thrilled to share in the celebrations of the Mayors Short Story Competition. We were delighted that seven of our students were shortlisted and two students, Felicity Stone (Year 1) and Angelica Rivera (Year 8), gained awards. For a detailed commentary see the Library article in this week’s Newsletter.
Music Night
We celebrated another delightful Music Night last Tuesday evening with excellent performances across a wide variety of styles. Congratulations to all performers, family supporters and Mr Colley and his sound and lighting support team.
Senior Students & SACE
At this time of the year our senior secondary students are preparing for ‘the run home’, with the completion of final assignments and exam preparations. We wish them every success for the fulfilment of their years of accumulated learning.
Blessings,
Nigel Croser
