Performing Arts News

It is wonderful to be back at Rolling Hills this year, having returned from maternity leave. We have had a wonderful start to the year in Performing Arts. Some of you may have overheard some spectacular sounds coming from the OSHC building, as you wander past to collect your children at the end of the day! That is the sound of some very enthusiastic and talented Grade 3 – 6 students rehearsing for our school production!

Production 2021

This year’s production is a showcase of Australian music, popular in the 70s and 80s. The show will Centre around the concept of the classic ABC television show, ‘Countdown’ presented by Ian ‘Molly’ Meldrum. This semester, students are learning about the events of the 70s and 80s which influenced the music of the era and some of the popular artists of the time. The production will feature all students in Grades 3 – 6. The date of the production will be announced in the coming weeks.

Auditions

Students in Grades 5 and 6 have been given the opportunity to audition for lead roles in the production. We have had an overwhelming response to auditions which were held Monday and Tuesday this week and will continue next Tuesday. The panel were really impressed by the level of talent on display. The cast will be announced in the coming weeks!

At Home

Students are encouraged to talk to their friends and family about the Australian music they enjoy from the 70s and 80s, to expand their knowledge. If you enjoy a bit of Farnsy, INXS, Kylie etc., please play them for your children to enjoy!

Have a lovely weekend!
