Camp

Report about Camp by Issy

I think that every student should have to go on a camp to Canberra at some point. It is an amazing experience even if you are scared it is really fun.

You can go to so many amazing places like. The Royal Australian Mint, Old Parliament

House, New Parliament House, Questacon, Australian Institute of Sport, Telstra Tower, ANZAC parade and many more.

Even though it is really far away it is so much fun when you get there. You play games at night like mini golf, jumping on the jumping pillow, mushroom tiggy with Luke (Lucas Chips), Rabbit spotting, a talent show and on the last night we had our big disco it was so much fun. Bronia threw lollies in the air and we had to catch them.

It might be scary but when you get back you get to see your family and you can tell them all your amazing stories.

Meet and Greet

Thanks to all families who could attend virtually the meet and greet. If you were unable or technology did not cooperate, we are happy to call you over the next few weeks for a 5 minute catch up. Please let your homeroom teacher know.

From the meet and greet an IEP (Individual Education Plan) will be sent home for many students just as part of a way for Newlands and home to work together for your child. IEP's will only be sent out for students whom are 6  months or more above or below in reading, writing or number and algebra or if there is a learning need.

Literacy

In literacy  students have been given a writers notebook. This is a space where they can note downs ideas, inspirations and other such things. A writer's notebook is a blank book where a writer can engage in the fun, often messy job of being a writer.

Maths

The students have been working hard at building their knowledge of decimals and understanding the differences and similarities of numbers, as well as, quash misconceptions.

Spanish Fiesta

Reminder that the Spanish fiesta is soon approaching and we would like to see you all here to celebrate our new status as a Offical Bilingual School.
