Dear Sacred Heart Community

Jenny

It is with great excitement for Jenny, and sadness at losing such a great staff member, that I wish to inform our school community that Jenny is moving to St Catherine of Siena Primary School West Melton, at the beginning of next term. Jenny is taking on a fulltime Learning and Teaching Coordinator role. It is a great and thoroughly deserved opportunity for Jenny, as she continues her journey of educational leadership. I have had the privilege of working closely with Jenny these past three years, and have consistently relied upon her diligence, knowledge, passion and calmness. My transition to Sacred Heart has undoubtedly been made easier because our school has had a Deputy Principal who I have been able to rely upon, as I have hopefully grown to meet the challenges of being principal at our school.

During her time at Sacred Heart, Jenny has been first and foremost a great classroom teacher. Her expertise and passion for teaching has touched each and every student she has taught. Jenny has had the responsibility of a number of leadership positions at Sacred Heart, and in each she has displayed an ability to work with the staff, harness their abilities with a sense of shared purpose and have important initiatives implemented.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Jenny for her immeasurable contribution to Sacred Heart over many years, and wish her every success and happiness as she takes on her new and exciting role at St Catherine of Siena Primary School.

Last Day of Term/Holy Thursday

Next Thursday 1st April will be the last day of this school term. Our students will be dismissed at 3.20pm and will return to school to commence Term Two on Monday 19th April. Next Thursday is Holy Thursday; we will remember the events of this day with our own paraliturgy in the Church. Details about this paraliturgy can be found on Jenny's Deputy Principal page. All parents and guardians are warmly invited to attend

School Photos

A reminder that school photos are scheduled for next Wednesday 24th March. Whilst this is sport day for nearly all our students, we ask that all students wear their summer uniform on this day.

Special Assembly

Next Friday 26th March we will be having a very special whole school assembly (our first in over a year) to carry out some of the ceremonies that we were unable to have because of the cancellation of our Opening of the School Year Mass. For parents and guardians who would like to attend, more details can be found on Jenny's Deputy Principal page. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dani our great mum who runs the uniform shop with Jarina, for again organising the graduation tops for our Year Six students.

Coffee Van - Thank You

As detailed in last week's newsletter, next Friday 26th March I would like to say thank you to all our parents and guardians for the way you supported your children and our school during the COVID lockdowns of 2020. In a very small gesture of thanks, I have organised a coffee cart to be here on the morning of the 26th March. The school will pay for a free coffee/hot chocolate for all parents and guardians from 8.30am. Due to safety protocols the students will not be able to get a hot drink and we ask that parents whilst drinking their hot beverage stay within the designated areas. We will put out some chairs and you are invited to stay have a chat and even a second drink on us. Toddlers and preschoolers are warmly invited and baby chinos will be on the menu.

If you are free next Friday morning, or can go into work a little later, please join us for a free drink and so we can say thank you.

Year Prep and One Colouring Competition

Last week our students from Year Prep and One were given a sheet for a coloring competition that they may wish to enter. The competition sponsored by Preston Real Estate Agency Woodards, offers some prizes for students. We ask that entries be returned to Alexandra and Bethany by next Thursday.

Hot Cross Bun Orders/Easter Egg Raffle

A reminder that all orders for our delicious Hot Cross Buns need to be in by next Wednesday 24th March. Our school leaders will commence selling raffle tickets after school next week for our Easter Raffle which will be drawn on the last  day of school. Tickets will be 50cents or three for a $1.00

New Bell

Our new bell was has been set up so this should be the end of the school bell sounding at incorrect times as has happened these past few weeks. For this we apologise. We are also trialing music as a bell at the end of recess and lunch time, as a way of helping our students transition back into the classroom from the yard.

Parent/Teacher Interviews

A reminder that parent/teacher interviews take place next Thursday 25th March. All students will be dismissed at 1.00pm. Extend is offering its services from 1.00pm on this day.

How good is it to be able to spend your lunch time lying on the school mat with your best friend!
