Prep News

The Prep students have had a great start to school and are learning the routines that we have here at Brookside. They are meeting old friends from Kinder and making new friends in their class and in the yard. We have started our Initialit phonics program and students are learning about rhyming words and syllables in words. Students have explored some maths resources and are getting ready for writing by making their hands strong with fine motor skill development. 

We have discussed what BELONGING means and how we belong to different groups such as families, our class group and Brookside College.

Harper Prep A- The best part of school is relaxation because it calms me down.

Angus Prep B- I like playing dress ups.

Emina Prep C- I like seeing my teacher.

Benjamin Prep C- I like playing with my friends outside.

Evelyn Prep D- I like coming to school and playing with my friends. 

Year 1 News

In Year 1 we have settled into the school year, we have been having lots of fun both inside and outside the classroom and forming lots of friendships! 

We have been learning about what it means to belong at Brookside, Year 1 and our individual classes. 

We have also been working hard to create personal goals for ourselves such as; getting faster at running and Writing and Reading goals such as; sounding out all the sounds in a word slowly. 

Forming relationships with teachers and other students, as well as setting up our rules and routines as a class has also been a big focus to make sure we are feeling happy and ready to learn!
