PRESTON-BUTCHER GIRLS OPEN TOUCH FOOTBALL

Last week, the KCC Open Girls Touch Football team played the round games and semi final in the Preston Butcher competition. The team is made up of players from Year 12 to Year 8 and with a large number of talented players at Kildare, the coach Mr Mack selected a large team in order to give as many players as possible, a chance to play for their school. The team consists of Maddie Browning, Alex Read, Halle Watson, Maisie Freemantle, Eloise Murphy, Jessica Woods, Abbey Anderson, Charley Clout, Maeve Jackson, Abbey Nitschke, Emma Suckling, Shayla Watson, Baylee Wright, Anabelle Willis and Holly Williams.
In Pool A, the first round game was KCC v MDCC (Mater Dei Catholic College). This was a tough game and the two teams were evenly matched. KCC came out winners 4-3 with tries scored by Eloise, Anabelle, Maeve and Baylee. Game 2 occurred straight after game 1 and we played WWHS (Wagga High). This time we defeated WWHS 8 tries to 2. Try scorers were Holly (2), Shayla (2), Eloise, Abbey N, Maeve and Maisie.
On Wednesday, directly after the KCC Athletics Carnival, the team played WWHS in a semi – final. We defeated a much improved WWHS team 7-2. Try scorers for this game were Holly (2), Maeve, Jess, Shayla, Emma and Maddie. The other semi-final saw MDCC defeat TRAC.
On Monday 22nd March at 4pm at Jubilee Park, KCC will play MDCC in the grand final. This will be a tough game and the team would really appreciate some support so if you are free, come down and cheer on our girls.
