Year 9/10 iSTEM

On Wednesday 2nd March, students from Year 9 &10 iSTEM, along with some Year 10 Design and Technology students, attended The Science and Engineering Challenge which is a day-long competition designed to provide high school students with a positive experience of science and engineering. A maximum of 8 schools compete against each other.
Students are awarded points for each activity and the school with the most cumulative points at the end of the day is declared the winner. The highest scoring winning schools from each region/zone will subsequently compete against each other for a place in the state and - perhaps - the national final.
Kildare participated in the following challenges; Helter Skelter Shelter (tower project), Confounding Communications, Future power, Grasping at straws, Stringways, Turbine, Bridge and Hover. Our students excelled in Helter Skelter Shelter, Future Power, Confounding Communications and Grasping at Straws.
Overall Kildare came fifth in all the challenges.
Thank you to Mr Steman and Mr Harland for organising a fun packed day of learning and exposing students to the possibilities of Science and Engineering careers.
Well done to all our students and we look forward to the challenge next year.
