Beachside Swimming Wrap Up

On Friday 5th March, St James was very fortunate to take 21 swimmers through to the Beachside Division Carnival. We had many swimmers competing in relays and individual events also. Well done to everyone who participated, it was a terrific atmosphere and there was lots of cheering! A special mention to Alfie C who finished 4th overall in the 11 Boys 50m Butterfly.

Beachside Tennis Wrap Up

On Wednesday 11th and Thursday 12th March Lucy S and Lachie W represented the Holt District at the Beachside Tennis Tournament. Well done to Lucy S who finished 3rd in her pool against some quality players. Lachie W made it through to the semi finals but missed out on the grand final. Lachie was mentioned by the SSV’s staff as an admirable and fair player.  Well done to both students for representing St James and themselves so well. A huge thankyou also to their parents who supported them on the days of competition.

St James Athletics Carnival

The St James Athletics Carnival will be held on Tuesday 20th April at GR Bricker Reserve, Moorabbin. The Sandy athletics track is being renovated so that was unavailable. All students have been practising the skills required for this day during our Physical Education classes and are very keen to put them into practice.

The senior students in Years 3-6 program will begin at 9.30am and will be completed at approximately 2.30pm. Senior students will compete in age groups NOT year levels as this is what they will have to compete in if they are successful in making it onto the St James Athletics Team. They will compete in the following field events: shot put, discus, high jump, triple jump and long jump. As well as the following track events: hurdles, 100m, 200m and 800m’s.

The Junior (Prep-2) students program will run from 11am until approx 1.15pm. They will be involved in fun activities which are athletics related: eg. sprints, hurdles, bean bag toss, egg and spoon and sack relays etc.

An Operoo has been sent today with further details. Please ensure your child’s profile is up to date and if you wish to volunteer your WWCC is current and also uploaded to Operoo. Our carnivals rely on volunteers and I know I will get many from the wonderful St James Community.

St James Soccer Team

The St James Soccer Team Trials were held last Tuesday lunchtime, for year 5 and 6 students. The team has been chosen and will begin training during lunchtimes next week. The Team will play at the Holt District Lightening Premiership on Friday 23rd April at Caulfield Park. An Operoo will be sent home next week in regards to all the details and asking for parent volunteers for both the boys and girls teams.

Thanks Everyone,
