Catholic Identity

                                     Mercy Prayer

We pray for the Sisters of Mercy, who established our school and for the priests who have served at St. Mary’s.

It is through their vision,  determination and strong faith that we enjoy the benefits of a Catholic Education here in Mooroopna.

We are proud to be a Mercy School, where the values of love and justice are taught and lived every day.

Project Compassion

A huge thank you for your support of this fundraising effort for Caritas Australia! The Project Compassion boxes in each classroom are being filled each week with notes and coins brought along by the students! We have raised $540.00 as a whole school so far, with two weeks of Lent still to go! Outstanding efforts! The Grade Six Social Justice Team has been having lots of fun, and improving their maths skills, by counting the money each Thursday afternoon during Leadership time! All Project Compassion boxes may be returned to the Admin Office by the end of this term.

National Harmony Day - Sunday, 21st March.

Harmony Week is a time to celebrate Australian multiculturalism and the successful integration of migrants into our community. Australia is one of the most successful multicultural countries in the world and we should celebrate this and work to maintain it. The message of Harmony Week is “Everyone belongs.”  It is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural or linguistic background, united by a set of core Australian values.

St. Mary’s will celebrate Harmony Week throughout this week and the next, with students participating in a variety of activities.

Sandhurst Switches Off Day - Friday, 26th March.

St. Mary’s Primary School will participate in “Sandhurst Switches Off” Day on Friday, 26th March. Schools in the Sandhurst Diocese are invited to switch off all lights and electronic devices for part of the day. This action is symbolic of our commitment to the preservation of God’s fragile creation. It is also symbolic of our solidarity with those who are suffering because of climate change.

We invite you to join in this act of social justice and solidarity and switch off your lights and limit your use of electronic devices on this day at home, also.

‘If we approach nature and the environment without this openness to awe and wonder, if we no longer speak the language of fraternity and beauty in our relationship with the world, our attitude will be that of masters, consumers, ruthless exploiters, unable to set limits on

their immediate needs.’

Laudate Si, Pope Francis, p. 17
