Background

Woodend Primary School is lucky enough to have two large vegetable gardens: a kitchen garden at Carlsruhe and the Woodend Community Children’s Garden at the main campus. These gardens are used to teach permaculture gardening, environmental and plant science, heathy eating, sustainability and many other topics. Such programs cannot run without the help of volunteer parents, grandparents and other adults. There are a myriad of mental and physical benefits to both children and adults who utilize the vegie gardens (more about these in the weeks to come).

2020

Thank you to the wonderful folk who watered and weeded our school gardens over the summer holidays. Thanks to you our gardens are lush and ready for teaching. All the seedlings planted in Nov-Dec are thriving and there are many goodies for tasting. See the attached photos for a snapshot of the Woodend Community Children’s Garden, or visit the garden yourself or peer down the hill from the school hall to have a look.
