RSC Senior Tennis
On the 19th February the RSC Senior Tennis teams played Norwood and Melba at Ringwood Tennis Courts. The students showed a great deal of persistence and determination, especially the girls who played against all boys teams.
Congratulations to the Boys B team, Mitch, Lachy, Jack and Lucas, who won their comp and to the A team, Jonathan, Michael, Tim and James, who came a close second to Norwood.
The girls will be going through to the next round on the 16th of March. Jas, Hayley, Jade and Darcy, we wish you the best of luck.

Swimming Carnival
The 9th of February was a day filled with
sunshine, fun and intense competition.
This year we saw a record number of students attend our annual Swimming carnival. Aquanation was transformed by all of house colours and the students did a spectacular job dressing up. The atmosphere at the pool was upbeat and everyone was ecstatic about what the day would hold.
It was good to see students across all year levels who weren’t competitively swimming, cheer on their fellow housemates and compete in novelty events both in and out of the water. There were some very competitive inflatable races and games of water polo, however the dives from both students and teachers at the end of the day was most impressive!
There was some fantastic individual results on the day with some new records being set.

GIRLS MAKE CRICKET HISTORY!
For the first time in a long time, in fact nobody can quite remember just how long, the Intermediate Girls Cricket team has won the Eastern Metro Region Maroondah Division. Yes, you read correct!
Tuesday the 27th of February was a hot day, perfect for cricket, and after getting the news that our arch rivals Norwood did not have a team, the stars were lining up perfectly for us. Our T20 started well with Charlotte Tolliday (4) and Rhian Lumsden (2) swinging hard opening the batting for us.
Our experienced captain, Olivia Henry, was next in line and put on an extraordinary show making a solid 54 not out. Her excellent running between the wickets rubbed off on her team mates who helped to increase our score. With Nikki Anderson contributing a very solid 6 and Keeley Sherar looking like she had been playing cricket for years and years putting on an impressive 9 runs before being unluckily caught behind off her glove. Next in we had the ever enthusiastic Kate Hine (2) who hit a good shot but was caught and then Sahana Dana who was really unlucky with a duck due to another great catch from the opposition. Janani Manikandan (1 not out) and Natasha Gaspari (1 not out) were just settling in before our overs ran out and we made the record score of 117!
With the ball in hand we then had the job of defending our proud score, there was no way we wanted to let ourselves down after such an impressive effort with the bat. With a wicket in our second over we were feeling optimistic.
We had such wonderful fielding efforts from all the girls and courageous wicket keeping from Kate Hine and Charlotte Tolliday, facing some of our fastpaced bowlers. Our bowlers kept chipping away at the Mooroolbark batters and slowly but surely the wickets came. We had a great catch from Sahana Dana and three amazing run outs amongst our wickets. Our bowling line up saw a variety of bowlers from our quick paced Olivia Henry (0/9 off 3) and Keeley Sherar (1/7 off 3) to our mediums and spinners including Nikki Anderson (1/7 off 3), Taylor Boyles (2/12 off 3), Sahana Dana (1/4 off 2), Natasha Gaspari (0/16 off 2), Kate Hine (0/4 off 1), Rhian Lumsden (1/4 off 1) and Aisha Madan (0/6 off 2). Finishing the last ball of the day with a run out left Mooroolbark with 74 runs and the Ringwood girls victorious!
As you can see from the photo the smiles will be staying for some time to come. Now we will focus on improving our skills and getting ready for the next stage.
A huge thank you needs to be mentioned to Maddi Mauchline (Year 11) for helping out with all training sessions and assistant coaching on the day. Her experience and leadership played an important role and we love having her as part of our team. It’s such a pleasure coaching an amazing group of girls and I can’t wait to do it all again later in the year!
