F-4 Community News

We are just over halfway through the term and what amazing learning opportunities and extracurricular activities our F-4 students have had so far. It was great to see both our Foundation and Year 1 students sharing in great fun and forming new friendships in their respective After School Stay Backs. Unfortunately, we have needed to postpone the Year 2 Sleepover until later in the year, but we are looking forward to this event nonetheless. During Week 8, the Years 3 and 4 students will be participating in their annual swimming program at EWMAC and we look forward to seeing the students develop their swimming and lifesaving skills.

We would like to thank all the staff and families for engaging in the Term 1 Teacher Advisor (TA) conversations over the past three weeks. It is through collaboration and partnership that we can support each student to be the best they can be. Over the next three weeks, students who have a Personalised Learning Plan (PLP) and their families will have the opportunity to engage in PSG conversations.

Stay Back

On Tuesday 22nd February, the Foundation students participated in the After School Stay Back. They enjoyed an afternoon snack of fruit and Tiny Teddies together before playing on the playground and participating in some games. The students had fun jumping in sack races and practising their coordination skills in egg and spoon races. They finished off the afternoon with an icy pole before heading home.

This week students in Foundation have been learning all about the letter Mm. They have learned and practised the correct formation of the upper and lowercase Mm. Students have also completed a cut-up sentence and craft page all about the letter Mm.

Foundation students have been busy exploring the numbers 1 to 10 through different fine motor activities. There were pom-poms, beads, pop its, chickpeas, loom bands and geoboards, all kinds of fun!

Years 1 and 2

We are certainly into the full swing of school life.

TA’s

Thank you to all those families who booked and attended TA’s via zoom. Your time was appreciated. We all benefit from having these conversations about your child’s learning.

Year 1 Stay Back

On Thursday 3rd March we had lots of excited Grade 1 students when they stayed back at school until 6:00 pm.

We all gathered in Miss Mac’s room and watched a little bit of Bluey. Then we got our afternoon tea. We could choose from strawberries, grapes, apples and bananas and we all had a packet of Tiny Teddies. After that we sat in our house teams outside. Each team went around three different activities. The activities were bubble blowing, making origami dogs and cats and playing duck, duck, goose and tunnel ball on the oval. When we had all had a go at the activities, we had a sausage sizzle. The sausages were really yummy.

Then our parents took us home. It was the best day ever.

Inquiry

We have been learning about ‘then and now.’ Each student is to choose an older person that they will interview to learn about their lives. The students will be sent home with a graphic organiser which needs to be filled in and returned to school before Friday 18th March.

Art

Mrs Langley has asked that all students have an art smock. This is very important as it protects their school uniform.

Religious Education

This week we have begun learning about Caritas and the people who have benefited from this organisation. We encourage the students to donate money to assist Caritas help all the people who are less fortunate than ourselves.
