International Women’s Day

Our display inside the Library this week is about women to mark International women’s Day on 8th March. There are some amazing books for all ages showcasing what women have achieved. Hopefully they will inspire our students to believe in themselves and help to create an even better future.

Author - Ursula Dubosarsky

Our books for library lessons this week have focussed on the Australian author Ursula Dubosarsky.  We have 21 of her books in our collection. They range from non fiction books about words (The Word Spy) to picture books and each different age level section in our library. Students in Foundation to Year 2 have listened to the book The march of the ants (2021) where the ants go on an expedition and take all they need with them. The littlest ant takes a book which proves invaluable when the ants start to lose hope that they will get to their destination. The students in Years 3 to 6, listened to the book Midnight in the library’ (2018) which is a celebration of books, stories and the National Library in Canberra. After the story the students did a library search for the other books by the author, refreshing their learning about the catalogue and location of books in our library.
