From the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

Last week, Catholic Schools Sandhurst released an updated Schools Operation Guide that provided further clarification around COVID restrictions at schools. I particularly note:

Free rapid antigen tests will be made available for all students throughout Term 1, 2022. While not compulsory, I would encourage all students to conduct COVID tests at home and in the event of testing positive, to remain at home and isolate for seven days.

Facemasks remain recommended but are not required in secondary schools. Our Primary staff will continue to wear masks while in class and students in Year 3 to Year 6 are also required to wear masks while in the classroom.

As restrictions ease and we are hopeful to have events that allow our community to re-engage with the College, a reminder that all parents, carers and other adult visitors who enter school buildings must be able to show evidence of two doses of COVID19 vaccine or have a valid medical exemption.

The College Advisory Committee met for the first time this week, led by the College Chair, Mrs Natalie Watt. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Natalie for leading the Advisory Committee in 2022. The Advisory Committee is a wonderful opportunity to gain a greater understanding of the College and I invite any interested parents to contact the College if you have an interest in joining the committee.

Last week, our Year 1 students had the opportunity to remain at the College until 6pm and share in games and a BBQ dinner. The students had a wonderful time and it was so lovely to see all the smiling faces. A big thank you to the wonderful Year 1 teachers and learning support officers for giving their time to ensure a wonderful afternoon.

As I write this newsletter article, the College is also preparing for the Years 5-12 Swimming Carnival. Postponed earlier this term due to COVID restrictions, I am so pleased that we were able to reschedule this event.  Thank you to Mr Michael Hill and his team for providing this opportunity for our students to participate in the carnival.

The St Augustine's College 2022 Annual Action Plan is now available on the College website. I would encourage all parents and carers to take some time to read the Action Plan to gather a sense of the College goals and aspirations for the coming year. Throughout the year, there will also be an opportunity for parents to provide feedback on certain aspects of the College.
