Road Safety
We are aware of a number of safety issues in regards to buses, cars and pedestrians at the front of the school during drop off and pick up times. We are currently in communication with the Education Department and together are working on solutions to increase safety for students, families and community members. At this time we are asking families/carers to be safety conscious and aware of the following points:
- Pedestrians (including students and parents) are only to cross William Street at the designated school crossing. We have been made aware of 'near miss' incidents where people have almost been hit by cars when attempting to cross the road at other points.
- Please check parking signs as there are designated no standing zones and no parking zones on William Street. These are mandated by the Moira Shire Council and we have had the police issuing fines to those parked in these spots. This zones are especially important to allow the flow of traffic and to allow buses to safely enter and exit the bus lane at school.
- Please do not congregate at the pedestrian gate entrance to school as this is forcing students to enter and exit via the bus gate due to people blocking the pedestrian gate.
Whilst we are undergoing studies into improving safety at the front of school we are requesting families to assist us by following the road rules and helping to keep students safe!
