A hearty “Eid ul Fitr Mubarak” to the Muslim Community who will be celebrating this festival on Sunday, May 24, 2020.  This festival marks the end of a whole month of dawn to sunset fasting.

Pan Fried Tofu with Spicy Sauce (Courtesy: Pearl Chow)

 

Ingredients:

Firm tofu 500g

Garlic 2 cloves chopped

Shallots 2 cloves chopped

1 small capsicum (40g) diced small

2 chillis (optional)

Sauce

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp sugar

1-1/2 tsp oyster sauce

1 tsp soy sauce

1 tsp chili sauce or vary according to taste

1/2 tsp sesame oil

1 tsp corn flour

1 cup (250g) water

 

Directions

  1. Cut tofu into 1cm slices
  2. Heat up a fry pan, add oil, turn to medium heat
  3. Pan fry tofu slices until brown on each side, approx. 3 min. each side
  4. Leave tofu on the pan
  5. Heat up a separate pan, add oil, chopped garlic, shallot and capsicum (and chili), cook until brown (about 3 min.), then turn off heat, pour the sauce into the pan and mix well with the ingredients. 
  6. Pour the sauce mix onto the tofu. Cover the pan, turn on med heat and cook until it boils, for approx. 2 to 3 mins.
  7. Serve with the pan.
