Curriculum

Well done on another successful week of Remote Learning! The 3/4 teachers are blown away with the effort and support from our MPRPS families. It is great to see everyone doing their best and having fun spending extra time with their families. Please remember that it’s okay if you do not complete all the assigned tasks. It is important to check in with your wellbeing and take a break if you are feeling stressed or anxious.

The students' daily tasks continue to be sent out and handed in through Google Classroom.

In response to the parent feedback there has been a change to the specialist timetabling. Year 3/4 students will participate in a specialist day each Tuesday. Students will continue to participate in their morning Zoom check in with their classroom teacher joined by one of the specialist teachers. Students will have the opportunity to have some independence over their learning and choose the order to which they complete the assigned specialist tasks. There will also be an additional Zoom session at 10am where students can go to ask questions. We understand that this is a new process and may take some time getting used to.

Our morning Zoom chats have become a clear favourite, as the students love being able to interact with their classmates and ask questions about the day ahead.

Optional Zoom sessions are also available for students who require assistance or those who would like some company as they complete their work. These optional Zoom chats will alter depending on the day but are available around 9:30-10:00, 10:30-11:00 and 11:30-12:00 for Maths and Literacy support. The zoom codes for these sessions are sent out on Google Classroom around 15 minutes before the scheduled session.

Last week in Maths, the students continued to practise a range of number games as a way to consolidate their understanding of place value. We also included optional problem solving tasks for those who wanted to challenge themselves and extend their learning during the Maths tasks.

During the Literacy sessions, the students worked on their questioning techniques by asking questions before, during and after reading. They also had a go at writing a persuasive piece on their own topic. It was great to see students utlising different persuasive techniques such as rhetorical questions, high modality words and time sequencing to organise their arguments. The 3/4 teachers also loved seeing all the different pictures from your choice board activities each day.

We look forward to having another successful week of Remote Learning! Please feel free to contact your child’s teacher through Sentral if you have further questions or require any support.

Have a fabulous week!

The 3/4 teachers.
