Harmony Day

PRSC students and staff celebrated Harmony Day on Wednesday 21st March by wearing an orange ribbon. Harmony day is a celebration of our cultural diversity. It is a day of cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home. Orange is the official colour to celebrate this day as it signifies social communication and meaningful conversations. It also relates to the freedom of ideas and encouragement of mutual respect. Article: Jaclyn Smith (Secondary School Nurse)

Fruit in Schools Program

Patterson River Secondary College was invited to participate in the Fruit in Schools Program run by Second Bite. A Farming Collective Initiative from Shepparton wanted to address fresh produce waste and donate fruit to as many school communities as possible.

Our students have access to locally grown free fruit each week including apples, pears and plums.

Student Testimonials

“The pears are good. They are free, delicious and helps me keep healthy” Matt Robertson 11A

“I like the plums, I think it is a really good program” Josh Budds 11C

“I believe it is very good getting people into fruit. It is also great if someone forgot lunch or doesn’t have enough” Andrew Dwyer 7D

“The school fruit program is a great idea because it not only encourages students to eat fruit but can supply food to students in need or if they have forgotten their lunch. The variety provided is well selected to cater for most. The fruit is put strategically in areas of the school and can be a found easily.” Steph Rosicka 7C

“It is a good program because it is offering a healthy alternative for students and promote nutrition” Maddie Davis 9F
