School Cross Country

On Tuesday 13th March, the College ran its annual cross country event.  We were blessed with great weather and the excitement was in the air!

3km was the distance to be completed by the majority of the athletes, whereas our 17-20 year old male age group had to complete the 5km.

The Year 7’s were beaming with anticipation to start.  We also had other interested athletes self-nominate to participate and the excel sport classes were chomping at the bit to begin.

All students were out of the gate quick and they then settled in nicely for the rest of the run.

The enthusiasm throughout the event was constant and the effort coming across the line to really squeeze their best times out was exceptional.

It was pleasing to have so many athletes participate and enjoy the event and a huge thankyou needs to be given to the VCAL students who assisted with course supervision and recording of the results on the day.

The top 12 athletes in each age group for each gender will progress to the next level, Division Cross Country to be run on Thursday 10th May.  Students will be notified early next term as to whether they have made the team.

Congratulations to all that participated.

Stay Sporty!

Patterson River Students at the Parkdale Gift.

On Saturday the 24th of March Patterson River Secondary College were represented by two students in the Parkdale Gift Professional Running Race. Our students, Kimberley Crombie and Joey Jackson competed against a tough field of athletes in the U16 Bayside School Classic. Whilst we weren’t winners on the day, Kim and Joey managed to run fast times and finished  8th & 9th respectively. This achievement is made even better as both are eligible to compete in the event again next year as they are only U15’s. Well done Joey and Kim!
