PARENT OPINION SURVEY
Parent Opinion Surveys have been distributed over the last few weeks. 278 families have been randomly selected to participate in this survey that is an important part of accountability for our school.
These surveys are returned to the Education Department, who collate the responses and return the results back to the school.
Feedback of this kind allows us to reflect on our community opinions and gives us an opportunity to celebrate the positives and to address any concerns. I thank the families involved. We appreciate your co-operation and support.
SENIOR SCHOOL INFORMATION EVENING
Our VCE Information Evening was held last night. It was certainly a full house and demonstrated the strong commitment to educational success from students, parents and staff.
This is a very exciting time for our Senior students, in particular the Year 10s, who are making decisions about subject selections and post compulsory tertiary education. In particular, I would like to acknowledge the Head of Senior School, Mr Noble, the Careers Advisor, Mr Mest and all the staff in attendance, for their willingness to come along, give advice and information about all the studies on offer for 2015. I would also like to thank the tertiary providers who showcased their establishments.
VICTORIAN VOLLEYBALL SCHOOLS CUP TOURNAMENT (STATE COMPETITION)
Congratulations to all who participated in the Victorian Volleyball Schools Cup. Many staff, students and parents contributed to make the tournament successful. I would like to thank and acknowledge the coaches, Phil de Salvo, Ms Dickson, Mr Braniska and Ms Andrieux.
This three day event involves many elite volleyball schools and many students across 8 teams participated.
Many have commented on the outstanding behaviour and sportsmanship qualities demonstrated by our students and for that alone I am very proud.
Thank you to all for being such admirable ambassadors for McKinnon. Well done and thank you to Ms Dickson and Mr Braniska for the coordination of this event and their dedication to this tournament.
Thank you also to Mr Hudd and all the parents for coming to watch and cheer the students on.
SPORTSMAN’S NIGHT
On Wednesday 30 July the school held a Sportsman Night in the Hall to raise funds for the McKinnon SC Intermediate Girls and Boys Basketball teams who will be travelling to Canberra for the National Schools Basketball Championships.
I would like to acknowledge and thank Damien Hardwick, James Morrissey and our ex-students, Jack Frost and Max Gawn for their time and participation at this event. Many students, staff and families enjoyed the opportunity to hear their stories and have photos taken. I would also like to acknowledge and thank Mr Bridges for his organisation of the night and his tremendous efforts as MC.
Finally I would like to thank the staff, students, parents and grandparents who attended on the night and gave their support.
SPORTS CARNIVAL
A very successful Athletics Carnival was held yesterday full of creative costumes, laughter and tremendous physical endeavour.
We were lucky to escape the rain that set in an hour or so after the conclusion of our day. The dedication and commitment of all staff involved to ensure all students were given the opportunity to share was tremendous and I would like to especially thank Ms Pemberton for her organisation of the day. I would also like to acknowledge the House Captains for being so encouraging and great leaders for their teams. These Carnivals bring the school together and help to create great memories.
Congratulations to Chisholm for their much deserved win!
