2019 Mid Semester Reports and Parent / Teacher / Student Interviews

Parent-Student-Teacher interviews to discuss student progress and Mid Semester Reports will be held on Wednesday April 24 from 2.30pm – 8.30pm.  All staff will be located in the College Hall, a staff seating plan will be located on entrance.

These interviews aim to provide parents with the opportunity to meet subject teachers in order to discuss academic progress and learning strategies to achieve optimal academic achievement for the remainder of the year. Students and families with Parents, are provided the opportunity to undertake detailed conversation with teachers and increase understanding of how support can be provided to students as they progress through their senior secondary education program.

Mid Semester Reports will be available to families on SEQTA Engage from April 5 for viewing.  These reports provide an assessment of progress thus far in 2019.  Parent Log Ins for SEQTA Engage were sent to the provided email account upon enrolment.  If you are yet to receive a log in, please email data@crcsydenham.net providing your name and current contact information which includes your up – to – date email address.

The College strongly recommend that parents log in to SEQTA Engage on a regular basis to view student results and feedback on learning tasks. This feedback is provided regularly by all subject teachers.

With the change in Learning Management Systems at the College, we have opted to use PTO as our booking system for Parent Teacher Interviews.  The link for this system will be located on the SEQTA Engage Home Page (https://engage.crcsydenham.net/#?page=/welcome)  and also on the College Website. (www.crcsydenham.net)  Families will receive a log-in and directions for use in the mail early during the first week of the holidays.

Es-ATAR BASED ON ACHIEVEMENT LEVELS IN YEAR 11

During week 2 of Term 2, current Year 12 VCE students will be provided with an Estimated ATAR score (Es –ATAR) that is based on the results that they gained for assessment and exams during Year 11. We consider this data to be a good predictor of student performance in Year 12.

During pastoral sessions students will be taken though this data and the processes that occur to calculate study scores, the aggregate score and the resultant ATAR. Students will then be encouraged to devise a pathway plan being guided by this data. Within this plan students are asked to set target study scores for each subject that they are enrolled in, calculate an aggregate score and convert this to an ATAR. This target ATAR can then be used as a guide in determining appropriate tertiary programs to investigate.

Unit 3/4  Trial Examinations

Parents and students are reminded that Unit 3-4 Trial Examinations will be held during the term 3 holiday break. All students undertaking a scored unit 3-4 study are expected to sit these trial exams. Dates for these exams are Monday 30 September – Friday 4 October.
