Easter Message

Easter Message – 2019

Easter is the greatest feast in the Christian calendar. On Easter Sunday, Catholics celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. "Hope” is the message of Easter. In the Gospels, Jesus Christ is the Hope that come into our world. Easter proclaims that Jesus has passed through death on of the cross and has risen from the dead. For Catholics, Easter Sunday comes at the end of 40 days of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving known as Lent.

As consumers, we are always astonished when we see hot-cross buns and chocolate eggs and bunnies lining the shelves of our local supermarkets in February!  This advertising can often lead to an overshadowing of the real meaning of Easter, especially for the youth of our community.  I know for my own children, they find it very easy to look ahead to the end of their Lenten sacrifices (of no chocolate) and ask for a number of variations of Easter Eggs.

As educators and a faith community it is our joint responsibility to educate and remind our students and children about the real message of Easter and the sacrifices made for us all.

I urge and invite all families of this community to participate in local Easter Faith celebrations throughout this holiday period.  As a family, when you gather, offer prayer and reflection about the real meaning of Easter and whilst the time of Lent and fasting is concluded, think about how prayer and almsgiving may continue to be part of a usual practice in your homes.

From the College staff, we wish all families a Happy and Holy Easter.  With the break we do hope that students take the opportunity to rest and prepare for the upcoming term and we look forward to welcoming students back safely at the start of Term 2.
