Relationships
Our school pastoral theme this year is relationships. Good, strong and positive relationships. It is these that build and enrich our community and our lives. How will you go about building and enriching relationships with each other, your teachers, your kids, your parents, your friends, your enemies, those you don’t know and those you don’t care to know?
Relationships are the key to success in all aspects of our lives and we should actively work on them, every day.
What does that mean then – everyday? It means actions, such as
- Encourage and initiate real conversations as this builds higher level of trusts and engagement – grow your social skills
- Be open, be honest with feelings, express differences of opinion in a way in which everyone can feel supported and true to themselves - grow your social intelligence
- Connect with others, make friends, colleagues, partners, acquaintances - grow your social capital
- Make others and yourself happier and healthier by supporting others in what they do, being first place or last – grow your social support
- Be selfless not selfish, look outwards and not inwards and look to have relationships that are equal and balanced where give and take matches – grow your social conscience
Every story you've ever connected with, every person you've ever admired, every little thing that you've ever accomplished is the result of taking action. You have a choice. You can either be passive in your life and let circumstance happen to you or you can be the active hero of your own life.
Don’t accept anything less than honor and excellence in your relationships.
