Rotary District Public Speaking

On the evening of 27th October, Rotary District 9810 held its Grand Final in the Four-Way Test Public Speaking Competition for Year 10 Students at the Dorset Gardens Hotel in Croydon.

St Bede’s College was the only competing school to have TWO competitors in the mix!  Jackson Lee (kindly sponsored by the Rotary Club of Cheltenham) and Kyran Hymers (generously hosted by the Rotary Club of Mordialloc) both competed well in this competition’s Grand Final.  Jackson spoke confidently about “Equal pay for men and women in sport” and Kyran spoke insightfully about “Mental Health issues facing our young people”.  Pleasingly, Kyran was adjudicated to be one of the Runners-Up on the night, and we extend our congratulations to Kyran on this wonderful achievement.

Congratulations to both Jackson and Kyran on making it to this final stage of this Public Speaking Competition!  St Bede’s College would also like to extend their gratitude to the two local Rotary Clubs who were willing to give their time and support in sponsoring our two fine Public Speaking students.  St Bede’s College, and the students themselves, are very grateful for the opportunities presented in this competition by the Rotary Clubs of Cheltenham and Mordialloc.
