Flying Start Program

The Melbourne Cup captured our attention over this past week and was celebrate well in Victoria and the nation. It is now time for exams to catch the attention of the students in Years 9-12.  Over these next 2 weeks students in Years 9-11 will do their end of year exams.  Those students should prepare well for the exams and make a good effort over these weeks.  Hopefully, students have been wiser as they have gone through the year and have been doing homework and working consistently at their studies each week.

Once the exams are over students Years 7-11 will commence the Flying Start Program.  This will mean that all students from the present Year 7-11 classes will move up a year level and commence next year’s work.  Over the 2 weeks they will be expected to commence and in most instances complete a unit of work.  Depending on the subject they may be assessed on the work that has been studied.  The Flying Start program is something that has been operational at St Bede’s College for 3 years at Year 10 into Year 11 level.  It now will include the whole school, ensuring that the latter weeks of the term are not wasted.  It is important that parents realise that holidays do not start until Friday, Dec 4th which is still earlier than government schools.  Parents should not be making holiday commitments ahead of this time as the summer holidays are already over 6 weeks in length. Your son will be at a disadvantage if he is not present at the College in the latter part of the term.  Your support as parents is appreciated.
