EIS NETBALL

Melbourne Vixens Guest Speaker

Lilydale High School's current EIS Netball class, as well as the 2016 class, got the opportunity to meet Kate Moloney, a young centre court player for the Melbourne Vixens.

Kate who was kind enough to take time off to come and speak to us about her journey, nutrition plan, and showing us some of the Vixens drills and warm ups which were great fun as well as hard work. Kate's talk on her journey was definitely the highlight of her visit. Her story of trying and failing, but never giving up was truly inspiring.

As she said "Give it a red hot go!", because if you work your hardest then you can achieve anything you put your mind to even if everyone else around you says you can't and that's a life lesson we all need to learn.

On Thursday 22 October the current, as well next year’s EIS squad, received a great honour of having Melbourne Vixens star Kate Moloney come to our school.

She spoke about her story on how she became the elite netball athlete she is today.  She showed us drills and stretches that the Vixens do in their training sessions and their warm up.  She filled us in on the Vixens weekly training routine that the dedicated players have to endure and their diets, such as the importance of correct amounts on carbohydrates and protein they should be eating.

Kate had such a huge impact on us by sharing her knowledge of being a professional elite netball player. She has shown us all to work hard if you want to be successful and that success isn’t always easy. She also taught us to set our bar high and never to give up!
