CLAY TARGET SHOOTING COMPETITION

BENALLA FIELD & GAME COMP

Last Monday morning (12 October) was an early start for an enthusiastic group of Lilydale High School students.   The charter bus left school at about 6.00 am, but students had hopped out of bed some time earlier.

In total, a group of 21 LHS students attended the Annual Benalla Field and Game Clay Target Competition.  Some 271 students competed on the day and I am proud to say all of our students were well up in the field with their fine performances.

Bonnie Rowland, although only a Year 8 student was required to compete as a senior and after a tense 10 target shoot off and won her division.  A very commendable effort.  Congratulations on your fine effort Bonnie.

Our team of Bonnie Rowland, Kyle Morrow, Aiden Webber and Luke Willemson were triumphant in the teams event.

Competition was so good that only 1 target separated the top 8 competitors on the day.  All members of our shooting team performed very well, several setting personal bests on the day.  Well done to everyone.

It was pleasing to see several parents take an interest in the day and attend the event as well.

I would also like to take the opportunity to thank Mr Rob Carter from the Melbourne Gun Club who has spent many hours assisting our students on Wednesday afternoons; for giving up his time and also coming to support of our students.
