ENGINE BUILDING
An enthusiastic group of students from across various year levels are at present about half way through the dismantling and rebuilding of a twin overhead cam Toyota motor. These students give up their Thursday lunchtimes to attend this class.
They have just completed honing the cylinders in preparation for the installation of pistons and new rings. It is hoped that the engine will be ready to test near the end of this semester.
This group of students recently attended the V8 Supercars event at Sandown Race Course on Friday 11 September and earlier in the year attended the Formula 1 race at Albert Park.

Sandown International Raceway
The fast and flowing circuit laid around a horse racing track is a permanent fixture in the city. Racing the Sandown circuit is about having good power for the long runs up and down the two long
straights. The fast 'esses' section at the end of the back straight leading into Dandenong Road corner is one of the best sequences of corners in the championship.
Sandown has hosted more ATCC/V8 Supercars Championship events than any other circuit - 43. The first was held in 1965 and was a single 40-lap race won by Norm Beechey in a Ford Mustang. He lapped the entire field.
