HPS Term 4 Twilight Working Bee Report
The first Twilight Working Bee for HPS was a great success, with families gathering together at 4pm on Sat 14 Nov for lots of team work and a fair bit of play and socialising too!
Groups of parents and children worked hard weeding, fertilising and mulching new plantings in the Japanese Fruit Garden, the Bush Tucker Garden and the Pagoda Tree Garden (behind the Hall).
A team of dads laid an irrigation system in the fruit garden and extended the system in the Bush Tucker Garden, so they will be much easier to water over the summer holidays.
The children brushed cobwebs off the Hall and removed dead plants from the large pots in front of the building. They then created new 'mini desert gardens' in them, using succulents.
A team of mums and children painted the last six benches requiring a coat of paint, completing the repainting of all outside benches in the school this year!
Last, but not least, a team of dads removed the old AFL footy posts, in preparation for replacing them with new goals next year.
As the sun went down, everyone downed tools and gathered together to relax and enjoy a sausage or two and an icy pole - a little thankyou for their fantastic work.
A huge thanks to all these wonderful volunteers, without whom these projects would not be possible. And a special mention to our kind sponsors PPG Paints, Cole's Clayton, for generously donating our BBQ and Veg, for providing keenly priced and delicious apples for the children's afternoon snack!
We hope you can join us at the next HPS working bee, in February 2016!
