From the Principal

Term 3, Week 6, Kevin Kennedy

Dear Families,

NAPLAN

If you have a child in year three, five and seven and they sat the NAPLAN test earlier this year their results will be sent home today. NAPLAN is a snapshot of your child’s performance on the days of the assessments and the results should be interpreted with care.

If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s NAPLAN results, you should discuss these with your child’s teacher, who will have the best insight into your child’s educational progress.

Sports Day

Just a friendly reminder that sports day will be held next term on Friday 25th October. Hopefully, the weather forecast is kinder to us this time.

50th Birthday Celebrations

A Wonderful night was had those who attended West Beach Primary’s birthday celebration. We had at least 200 visitors through the school, who enjoyed looking at all the schools memorabilia.

The highlight of the event was former teacher Noella Greenham cutting the birthday cake, she is 97 years old.

I’d like to thank all the volunteers who helped out on the day, cooking barbecues, making coffee and selling cakes. It was greatly appreciated. I’d also like to that the staff and students for their contributions of time and work.

The evening really highlighted what a great community school West Beach Primary is and that it’s connections are ever present and never ending.

Here’s to another great 50 years.

Term 4

Due to ongoing enrolments  we are most likely going to add another class next year. We are not yet at capacity but we are getting closer and we only have one classroom space left. Hopefully our growth will peak around the time the year seven students head off to high school in 2022. We will then have spare classrooms to accommodate any further growth.

Next term will also see the start of the class placement process. We take the process very seriously and it is challenging time for staff, students and families. With so many factors to consider it takes time and careful consideration. More information about the process will be sent home early next term.

End of Term Assembly-Friday

We will be having a cake cutting ceremony at the end of term assembly. It should be a lot of fun, we’d love to see as many family members there.

There will also be a presentation ceremony at the for players in our school soccer teams.

Have a happy and safe school holidays and I look forward to seeing you next term.

Kind regards,

Kevin Kennedy
