GLOBAL YOUTH FORUM

The Global Youth Forum that we participated in was a really eye opening experience. We had the chance to learn about how biased opinions are conditioned into our everyday lives, and affect the way we think and act without even knowing. We learned about the importance of globalisation and the knowledge of different cultures, nationalities and ethnic groups within our community. Having deep conversations and connecting with different schools across the state helped us understand how privileged we are in our society and school, and how much more work we should put in to globalising our school even further. Learning about the disadvantages people in other countries and areas of Australia face, opened our eyes as to how different we live our lives, and how we can improve them by learning from each other. The biggest take away was definitely learning how we could be more empathetic in our everyday lives, and how your initial judgements and opinions based on where a person is from or what they look like are extremely different compared to what they have lived through that you may have never realised. Growing our empathy and globalisation of our community will help us to understand how different every single person’s life is compared to another.

My experience in the global advocacy forums was a greatly beneficial one.

I got to discuss and help innovate with other students from across victoria talking about issues such as

    ●Miseducation

    ●bias

    ●changes to our school

    ●representation

I really benefited and learnt a lot from other schools and their perspectives on issues facing our school. I will take away a lot from this day which I will implement into my future decisions

Thank you to Ms Higgins, Ms Angelidis and the team for contributing to this great experience
